Privacy policy

SimCleaner collects no personal data. Everything it does happens on your Mac.

Last updated October 13, 2026Applies to SimCleaner and SimCleaner Pro

What SimCleaner collects

Nothing. SimCleaner has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it doesn't send information about your simulators, your projects or your Mac to the developer or to anyone else.

What it reads and changes on your Mac

To show sizes, SimCleaner reads the folders Xcode uses: simulators and their apps in ~/Library/Developer, DerivedData, device support files, coding agent workspaces, simulator runtimes and CoreSimulator's caches. It reads file names, sizes and dates. It doesn't open or upload the contents of your apps' data.

It deletes or erases only what you confirm. Simulator changes go through Xcode's own simctl tool.

The App Store edition can only see the folder you choose when it asks for access. It keeps a security-scoped bookmark of that folder on your Mac so it doesn't have to ask again. You can revoke it by removing SimCleaner.

What it keeps on your Mac

A few settings, such as the last page you opened and the unused-days filter, and the running "Freed about" total, which removes itself an hour after your last cleanup. SimCleaner Pro also remembers when it last looked for an update. All of it stays in SimCleaner's preferences on your Mac.

Apple services

The App Store edition has an optional tip jar. If you leave a tip, the purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store; the developer receives no personal information about you. The app may also ask once for a rating through Apple's standard prompt. Apple's own privacy policy covers both.

Update checks in SimCleaner Pro

SimCleaner Pro uses Sparkle, an open source updater, to check once a day for a new version. The check downloads a short list of releases from simcleaner.com, and the request names only SimCleaner Pro, its version and the version of Sparkle. Like any visit to this site, it shows up in the server's access logs with your IP address. An update you choose to install downloads from SimCleaner's releases on GitHub.

To stop the daily check, turn off SimCleaner Pro › Check for Updates Automatically. Check for Updates… still works whenever you choose it. The App Store edition gets its updates from the App Store and never makes this request.
